Search Pipelines and Population Inference
This research direction focuses on gravitational-wave detection and population studies. I am involved in developing and applying the IAS-HM search pipeline for detecting compact binary mergers in LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA data. This work includes incorporating higher-order multipole moments into matched-filter searches to improve sensitivity to asymmetric mass-ratio systems and systems with orbital precession. Population inference from the growing catalog of detected events helps us understand the astrophysical formation channels of compact binaries.
